M.Sc Counselling and Family Therapy

Master of Science in Counseling and Family Therapy is a two-year post graduate programme. Courses are designed to develop student competence in the application of theory-based counseling models, to understand the concerns of diverse client populations, to enhance student’s personal and professional development, and to promote the dignity and welfare of all individuals. The program also prepares students to meet the academic requirements for licensure in family therapy (LMFT) by the Board of Allied Mental Health and Human Services Professions in the Commonwealth. The programme will equip graduates with clinical skills that will effectively address, manage and treat relationship problems in couples, as well as parent-child issues, arising from childhood developmental problems.

A remarkable feature of this programme of study is its focus on the applied aspect and the thrust on opportunities for hands-on experience for the learner. In the second year of the program, the learner may choose to be trained in Marital and Family Therapy and Counseling, Child and Adolescent Counseling and Family Therapy, or Substance Abuse Counseling and Family Therapy.
